Airlines and destinations
Eleven airlines serve Mérida with 23 destinations — 14 domestic and 9 international. Viva operates the largest network, including Havana, Miami, Orlando and seasonal Los Angeles. Aeroméxico, Volaris and Mexicana connect both Mexico City airports. American flies to Miami and seasonally to Dallas/Fort Worth, United to Houston Intercontinental, TAG Airlines to Guatemala City and Flores, and Air Canada and WestJet operate seasonal service to Toronto Pearson.
Getting into the city
Authorised taxi. The counter is inside the arrivals hall. Fares are fixed and paid in advance at the counter, not to the driver: 230 to 290 pesos for a car and 350 to 430 pesos for a van, depending on the destination zone.
Va y Ven bus. The Airport Route runs to the city centre for 45 pesos (12 pesos for students and seniors), stopping at the ADO bus terminal, Parque Santa Lucía, Paseo 60, Fiesta Americana and the Convention Centre. Tickets are sold at the ADO counters inside the airport.
Car rental. All rental desks are on the ground floor next to baggage claim. Third-party liability insurance is compulsory in Mexico and is not replaced by foreign credit-card coverage — a rate that looks unusually low almost always adds it at the counter.
Parking. 45 pesos for the first hour, 15 pesos per additional 20 minutes, and a 24-hour rate of 270 pesos that applies from the sixth hour.
Before you fly
Arrive two hours before a domestic flight and three before an international one. Check-in usually closes 45 minutes before domestic departures and one hour before international ones. Security and the departures concourse are on the upper level.
